Iain Lee will be returning to radio in 2016. According to reports the comedian/DJ will be fronting a new show on UTV’s new national speech channel talkRADIO, which is expected to launch in the Spring. He is also recording a panel show for Audible.
Lee left the BBC’s Three Counties Radio in November following a heated discussion with Christian lawyer Libby Powell. Lee and the BBC apologised saying the the interview was “at several points inappropriate”.
During the interview Lee is reported to have said: "Homophobia is bigotry. Do you support bigotry?" to which Powell replied: "This isn't homophobia, this is God's word."
Since leaving Three Counties Radio Lee has been working with regular colleague Alex Lowe. He has written on Facebook about suffering from depression and touched on the Three Counties incident: “I’m so upset by what happened at the BBC. I'm not allowed to talk about it, it's not me being cute, but I loved that show and that team and that job…”
