Interview: Rarely Asked Questions – Luisa Omielan: Page 2 of 2

6. What do your parents/children (delete as applicable) think of your job?

I don't speak to my father, I think he wanted me to be a doctor, my mother absolutely adores it and is very very proud, she helps me with the admin and my merchandise!

7. What’s the worst thing about being a comedian?

The beer and wine in the green rooms as I don't drink beer or wine. That's pretty tough.

8. I think you are very good at what you do (that’s why I’m asking these questions). What do you think of you?

I like myself and I love my shows, I made shows that I want to watch again again and again, that's why I love doing them and never really get tired of it (other than physically) for example WWBD?! is nearly 4 years old and I LOVE that show, it's my baby. I love them as much as I love watching Sister Act 1 & 2. I can't pick a fav as they both are.

9. How much do you earn and how much would you like to earn?

I earn very little at the moment and it's kinda annoying as I work a lot and would love to earn more. I would like to earn at least 50% of my tickets sales for touring. That would be nice. I want to be a millionaire and earning several hundred thousand pounds.

10. How important is luck in terms of career success – have you had lucky breaks?

I think I have been very wonderful lucky with my audiences and their love and support and willingness to spread the word. All my success so far has been down to them. Some luck with tv and film would be wonderful. I have done so much myself and with the support of people that I feel lucky to have had that. Now I would like a lil magic to kick in.

11. Alan Davies has said that comedians fall into two categories - golfers and self-harmers. The former just get on with life, the latter are tortured artists. Which are you – or do you think you fit into a third category?

I think I was a tortured artist and am learning to be a golfer, in life though, not necessarily just in stand-up.

12. Who is your favourite person ever and why – not including family or friends or other comedians?

Whoopi Goldberg. She is hilarious and wonderful and I want to be just like her.

13. Do you keep your drawers tidy and if not why not?

Not tidy but organised and everything has its place, so one drawer for socks but a separate one for knickers and calculators. Haha knickers and calculators should be the name of a book. There's a joke in there somewhere.
