The winner of this year's Ham Fist Award for the worst review published during the Edinburgh Fringe has been announced by website Fringepig. The prize goes to Graeme Connolly of The List for his review of Stuart Goldsmith. Connolly receives £50 and Goldsmith wins £200.
Fringepig said that "Graeme wins for his stunning use of bathos. In his review of Stuart Goldsmith: An Hour he worships at the feet of Goldsmith for several paragraphs, and then ends with three stars. It’s a simple formula, but a winning one. The funniest reviews are often the simplest."
Runner-up was Paul Fleckney for his review of Bobby Mair's show viewed via Periscope. It was a tough decision choosing the shortlist though. Fringepig did acknowledge that the quality of writing was much higher this year.
The results were announced on Bob Slayer's Blundabus.
