It's a new series of Richard Osman's House of Games this week and the first episode features not one, not two, not three but four comedians, all showing off their brains and their skill at lateral thinking. they are Miles Jupp, Cariad Lloyd, Lucy Porter and Kiell Smith-Bynoe.

So why this special line-up? Well, it just so happens to be the very last week when Richard Osman will be the host of House of Games. He has handed in his notice and will be handing over to Michael Sheen, when it will presumably become Michael Sheen's House of Games. Or maybe not. I notice that it is no longer billed by the BBC as Richard Osman's House of Games, but just House of Games, so maybe Sheen will not be in the title. Maybe he needs to have a word with his agent. Will he have his picture on the dartboard and luggage prizes? We will have to wait to find out.

i don't know why Richard Osman is quitting but he certainly doesn't need to do House of Games for the money, which must feel like loose change to him, with best selling books and his Rest is Entertainment podcast with Marina Hyde. I've heard large figures bandied about where podcast earnings are concerned and this one has become essential listening for both media news and showbiz gossip.

Anyway, back to House of Games. Comedians famously have a brilliant track record on this show, with Angela Barnes becoming the first contestant to win five episodes on the bounce. Tonight's line-up is pretty useful too. Lucy Porter is a famous quizzer who recently hosted of a new history-based quiz, Déjà News, on Radio 4.

Ghosts star Kiell Smith-Bynoe has the honour of being the only Taskmaster contestant to appear in the Champion of Champions contest without being a series winner. This was because the actual winner, Mae Martin, was unable to take part in the final of finals showdown. So he might have luck on his side. 

Miles Jupp is clearly brainy. He has an air of bookishness about him and a quick wit which should stand him in good stead when it comes to rounds here such as Answer Smash.

And finally, podcast fans will know how bookish Cariad Lloyd is because she co-hosts the podcast Weirdo's Book Club with Sara Pascoe. she is also pretty quick-brained, as an improvising member of comedy troup Austentatious.

So who will be the winner? Your guess is as good as mine. Oh, alright then. I think it'll be Lucy Porter.
