Guy Montgomery Brings Hit Game Show To London For One Night

Are you ready for a night of brain-scrambling?! Stand-up superstar Guy Montgomery is bringing his international smash-hit game show Guy Montgomery’s Guy Mont-Spelling Bee to London for the first time ever, for a very special, one-off live event at Soho Theatre Walthamstow.

On 2nd September, fans on this side of the globe will have the rare chance to catch the live version of the hit TV show previously only seen on BBC iPlayer and at the Edinburgh Fringe in the UK. Guy is joined by some of the best comedians around as they attempt to spell words while being relentlessly distracted – making for a night of totally unpredictable and joyful nonsense. Chaos and curveballs from Guy will bring the laughs as special guest comedians are taken off course in the most hilarious ways while they attempt to spell impossibly tricky words.

Fans can sign up to the mailing list to get access to pre-sale tickets at 10am, Thursday 9th April. General sale will go live at 10am, Friday 10th April.

Guy said: “In many ways, England is the spiritual home of nearly all the words I know. I am very excited to bring my Spelling Bee to London for the first time! Growing up I always lived under the illusion that British people are smarter than me and I look forward to finally being able to find out whether or not this is true.”

Born during lockdown, the Guy Mont-Spelling Bee has evolved from live streamed video calls into live shows in increasingly bigger venues and even an ABC TV show that has had multiple seasons across Australian and New Zealand television, that is now also available on BBC iPlayer in the UK.

Previous guests on the TV version include Tim Minchin, Hannah Gadsby, Rose Matafeo and Rhys Nicholson. Previous live show guests have included Sam Campbell, Emma Sidi, Tim Key, Nish Kumar and Lolly Adefope.

An award-winning Kiwi comedian, Guy’s popularity in New Zealand, Australia and beyond has seen him regularly appear on TV shows like Thank God You’re Here and Have You Been Paying Attention, while also touring across Australia and New Zealand in 2025 with his show I’ve Noticed So Many Things, It’d Be Unfair To Keep Them To Myself.
