The Theatre Royal Haymarket is to host the Big Jewish Comedy Gala, an evening celebrating leading Jewish comedians, following a series of high-profile cancellations on the UK comedy circuit and the wider entertainment and the boycott of Jewish performers.
The event will also raise funds for the Community Security Trust (CST), a charity that protects British Jews from antisemitism and terrorism.
Headlining the event is Simon Brodkin (Sunday Night at The Palladium, The John Bishop Show), with support from Sara Barron (Live at the Apollo, Would I Lie To You), Olivia Lee (The Tonight Show With Jay Leno, Balls of Steel), Bennett Arron (The Kosher Comedian, Alone), and Rachel Creeger (Sunday Morning Live, Hapless). Compering the show will be the 2015 Jewish Comedian of the Year, Philip Simon (My Family, Muppets Most Wanted).
The Theatre Royal Haymarket is owned and operated by Access Entertainment. Danny Cohen, President of Access Entertainment said: “Access Entertainment and the Theatre Royal Haymarket is proud to be hosting this special night of Jewish comedy. We stand against antisemitism in all its forms and the boycotting of Jewish and Israeli artists.”
Rachel Creeger said: “Following a very challenging time for many of us, to have a venue with the prestigious pedigree of the Theatre Royal Haymarket proudly stand by us as Jewish entertainers is hugely validating.”
As well as providing an outstanding line up, the night aims to raise much needed funds for the Community Security Trust, a charity that provides advice, security services and equipment to Jewish schools, organisations and synagogues across the UK.
