Following an acclaimed Edinburgh Fringe run, the cult-hit one-man-improv show David Elms Describes A Room is embarking on its first tour in 2026. Together with his audience, veteran improviser Elms “builds a comedy mind palace before your very eyes. And you’ll want to move in for good!” (Phil Wang). David will return to Soho for two weeks of shows at the end of the 2026 tour.
Tickets are available now from davidelmsdescribesaroom.com
Audiences from past shows are now being encouraged to record their additions to the rooms they created with David, contributing towards a future project compiling each room. They can do so now at the show’s website.
David developed the show with the Free Association in 2020. What began as a ‘self-indulgent’ 20 minute improv exercise has grown into an hour long show, selling out venues across London and the UK including at the Free Association, Mr Bingo’s Art Shop in Islington, Soho Theatre, and Francesca Moody’s Shedinburgh. A number of famous faces have attended and helped David to build a room, including Tina Fey, Nick Mohammed, and Tim Key.
David Elms is an improviser and writer. In the West End, he’s been seen in A Christmas Carol (ish), reprising the role of Mr. Goldsworth in Nick Mohammed’s ensemble comedy musical shows (Houdini, Dracula!). On TV, David played series regular Clive in two series of Channel 5's semi-improvised sitcom Borderline. His short film Regular, written, directed and scored by David and starring Tim Key and Laura Marling, aired on Channel Four as part of Random Acts. He runs leapday, an improv school based in London’s West End.
