Comedian Stuart Laws is going to be very busy and very ubiquitous in the coming months.
Laws has a clutch of more exciting projects that have just been announced - they are: a recurring part in the recommissioned Channel 4 drama ‘Patience’, with Ella Maisy Purvis; the goalkeeper in the new SO TV web series ‘Comedians Taking Penalties with Chloe Petts’, and the start of a new YouTube game show produced by Stuart’s own production company, Turtle Canyon Comedy, called ‘Is It A Bone?’ and featuring Sam Lake as host and six contestants, Alison Spittle, Jordan Brookes, Daman Bamrah, Sikisa, Huge Davies, and Marjolein Robertson.
Of his busy schedule, Stuart says: “When I got my vasectomy it wasn’t to stop myself having kids, it was to give myself time to do all of this work. In the last year I’ve written and performed a play, done a UK tour of my stand up show, recorded two of my own specials, directed a dozen other and have also started touring the USA - in the last few weeks I’ve performed in New York, LA, Boston, Indianapolis, Denver, Niagara Falls and Pittsburgh. You think I could do all of that with a kid? Or having to go to the shops every day to buy a new six-pack of condoms?”
As well as wowing audiences with own clever shows, such as the 12 x 4-star reviewed Stuart Laws Has To Be Joking where he essentially takes the audience on a date to explain how being autistic affects him (other topics Stuart has brought a comic spin to include grief and his vasectomy), Laws is also to go-to director for acts making their comedy specials - James Acaster, Rosie Jones, Nish Kumar to name but a few. And Stuart is also the inspiration behind the cult hit shows Comedians Beer Mat Flipping Championship and Stuart Laws as Michael Caine Saying Never for One Hour.
The eight-part series launched on YouTube this, with each comedian facing a series of ridiculous football challenges, before going toe-to-toe with Chloe in a penalty shootout. Stuart plays the key role of goalkeeper. Cast includes Nish Kumar, Lou Sanders, Mathew Baynton, Rhys James, Sophie Duker.
Anarchic comedy panel show where comedians have a bone to pick. Well, sometimes it's not a bone. ‘Is It A Bone?’ is a vexing new gameshow, where the UK’s funniest minds compete to answer what should be a simple question. Make no bones about it: this is like if Carrot In A Box were more physical, and somehow more maddening. Each round involves a different sense: sight, sound, touch, smell, and taste. The final round of course is the sixth sense: "Am I thinking of a bone?"
Hosted by comedian Sam Lake, six contestants (Alison Spittle, Jordan Brookes, Daman Bamrah, Sikisa, Huge Davies, and Marjolein Robertson) face off under the watchful eye of a new sidekick, The BoneDropper. The show is lo-fi and delights in the absurdity of some rounds being as straightforward as, "Look at this object and tell me if it's a bone." The game show is one of a number of new shows and specials from Turtle Canyon, you can read about them all here.
Patience (Ella Maisy Purvis) is back with a new DI (Jessica Hynes) in charge and a series of tricky and twisted crimes in the city of York. This season our autistic archivist who helps the police with their investigations is thrown out of her comfort zone as DI Frankie Monroe roars into town to lead the team.
A new show from the director of The Assembly that features six neurodivergent comedians visiting a primary school and are challenged, in the course of one school day, to create and perform an original stage play that’s based entirely on the ideas of a group of 6 to 8 year old school children. Stuart brings his usual dry and odd humour to the show, talking to the children like they are work colleagues before becoming The Nightmare Lord in the play.
Among Stuart’s other live comedy projects are his cult shows, the underground hit of the Fringe in 2024, Stuart Laws as Michael Caine Saying Never for One Hour, and he also hosts the cult favourite late night show Comedians Beer Mat Flipping Championship.
