In We Must Stop Meeting Like This, Celya explores breaking free from shame, and what happens when you do. Have you ever forensically over-thought your life choices? Are they all somehow connected to a passing comment your Spanish teacher made when you were 15? Has it impacted everything from your love life to your career? Sharply observed and slyly insightful, Celya’s fourth show is another “exceptional, not to mention impressively original” (British Comedy Guide) hour of deftly charismatic, joke-packed stand-up from one of the fastest-rising comedic voices in the UK.
Celya says: “I’m really excited to go back on the road for another AB Voyage. This is my biggest one yet, with the biggest solo show I’ve ever done in London (not to mention another big one that we'll be announcing soon). I can’t wait for you to see it.”
Celya AB is an award-winning comedian and writer. Her shows Swimming, Second Rodeo and Of All People resulted in sold-out runs and tours at prestigious venues and festivals, including the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Soho Theatre, Just For Laughs Montreal and Melbourne International Comedy Festival. A recipient of Chortle’s Best Newcomer Award in 2022, she has also supported US comedian Maria Bamford and acclaimed musician St Vincent on tour.
As a comedy writer, she has worked on various programs across the BBC including The Great British Sewing Bee, Channel 4 and Comedy Central, as well as James Acaster’s Springleaf. She is a regular writer on various radio programmes and has made regular panel appearances on The News Quiz.
