Comedian Rachel Creeger, one of the two Jewish comedians along with Philip Simon, whose shows were dropped by the Edinburgh Fringe's Whistlebinkies venue now has new slots at two different venue.
Creeger announced the new location on her Facebook page: "I am relieved to announce that my show, Ultimate Jewish Mother, has been offered new homes at the Edinburgh Fringe 2025. From 7th-17th I'll be performing in The Big Tent at Hoots @ Nicolson Square Gardens, and from 18th-24th in Dirty Martini at Le Monde, all shows are at 12.30pm (no Saturdays - it’s my real life, not a character!) It will be a few days before the street marketing all over the city can be amended or new flyers arrive so please do spread the word and let people know of the new time and location, more information can be found on the EdFringe website.
I want to express immense gratitude to the teams at Hoots and Le Monde for generously allowing me to retain the unticketed status of the show, allowing those who cannot afford to pay to see the show for free, and those who are able to pay to donate what they can afford. I would also like to extend my thanks and appreciation to everyone who has reached out over the past couple of weeks with support and offers of help. You have kept my heart warm through an otherwise dark and cold time."
Director of the Edinburgh Comedy Awards Nica Burns also commented on recent events at the Awards lunch opening speech on Sunday. Burns said: "I love the Free Fringe, it has made a huge positive impact to the Fringe and the lovely founder PBH is here today. But unlike the big venues, there is not a lot of paperwork but there is a fantastic and clear website.
On the website under the application section the fourth bullet point says: “Once you have accepted an offer with us, that’s a firm commitment.” That gives the act permission to put the venue’s name as the location of their show in the Fringe programme. So what happened between the venues accepting these acts and them kicking them out? Both these comedians were known quantities; they played at these venues before. Someone took the decision to kick them out of their venues very close to the Festival starting, it is a disaster for any act.
