Outpouring Of Support For Frank Skinner After Absolute Axes His Show

There has been an outpouring of support for comedian Frank Skinner after it was revealed this morning that his contract at Absolute Radio had not been renewed. Skinner said on Saturday morning's broadcast that his morning show with Emily Dean and comedian Pierre Novellie would be coming to an end after 15 years. The social media site X, formerly Twitter, was prompt to criticise the decision.

Skinner's Three Lions chum David Baddiel was quick off the mark posting: "Frank Skinner's show on Absolute is brilliant and the decision not to renew it can only have been made by an Absolute twat." At the time of writing his comment has over 152 thousand likes.

Presenter Andrew Gold posted: "It’s the only radio show I deliberately listen to."

Actor/podcaster Craig Parkinson added: "Consistently funny and just effortlessly brilliant. Such a shame."

Jon Hopkins wrote: "A shocking decision. Frank, @Divine_Miss_Em and the rest of the gang have kept me entertained and sane for years. Gutted doesn't even cover it."

Nik Fromont wroite: "Bloody hell! That’s ruined my Saturday. Surely @GaryLineker can find a space in his @GoalhangerPods empire to allow the show to continue as a pod?!"

Ruth Jordan concurred with Baddiel: "Completely agree, David. And not just because I’m one of the regulars who harasses them every week with my comments. Maybe they’ve finished just before I got the restraining order! Anyway, it’s gutting. Feels like we’re a club that’s being disband against our will. Sad"

James Reading posted: "Is anyone over 60 safe from being let go? What are listeners 35s+ left with? There’s such an obsession with youth on the radio. @BBC6Music made the same mistake. Big loss."

Joel Long psted: "What? Missed the show this morning. It's been a regular for my saturday morning walks the last couple of years. Sad news."

Skinner is still busy with other projects. He is currently on topur with his acclaimed stand-up show and has recently announced a run in Lonon's fashionable West End due to demand. Details here.
