Comedian & Chef George Egg Nominated For Posh Nosh Award

Comedian & Chef George Egg Nominated For Award
Comedian and chef George Egg has been nominated for an award for his comedy/cooking online content - the Snack Hacker videos that he started making during lockdown.

Previous winners of the Fortnum & Mason’s Food and Drink Awards include the likes of Nigel Slater, Nadiya Hussain and The Hairy Bikers. Egg has been shortlisted for the Content Creator Award. He says: "50 years old now and pitted against a bunch of hip young gunslingers each with tons more followers than me, I’m as surprised as everyone else probably is, but very pleased nonetheless."

The Snack Hacker videos, of which there are now 100 episodes, feature Egg cooking simple recipes, more often than not something slightly left-field and absurd. They frequently involving me adapting an existing junk food staple like a cheeseburger or a steak bake by adding stuff to make it more interesting and gourmet while being generally comical, entertaining and dropping in bits of food-centric stand-up of sorts. While most of the episodes are presented just by Egg he has also been a celebrated friend from the worlds of comedy or food to come up with an idea together. Guests have included Joe Lycett, Jack Whitehall, Tim Key, Lou Sanders, James Acaster, Mackenzie Crook, Romesh Ranganathan, Jamie Demetriou, Harry Hill and Nick Helm.

Most of the award winners are chosen by a panel of foodie experts, but while the shortlist for the Content Creator Award is selected by the panel the winner comes down to a public vote. So in case you wanted to include it, here’s a link where people can vote for Egg:

The videos can be viewed on his Instagram account https://www.instagram.com/georgeegg/ or on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/georgeegg2 (where they can be enjoyed full screen rather than the annoying letterboxing that Instagram insists on, not allowing landscape videos to be displayed horizontally).

Here are links to a few of them:

Kebab Risotto with Tim Key

Samosa Chaat with Joe Lycett
