Stewart Lee And Richard Thomas Jerry Springer: The Opera Book Up For Auction

Stewart Lee And Richard Thomas

A signed and annotated book of lyrics/music for Jerry Springer The Opera is being auctioned for charity. The item, dating from 2004, is printed and bound and has a vocal score by Richard Thomas with, according to the front page, "some bits by Stewart Lee."

Bids of between £1000 and £10000 are invited. According to the website the highest current bid is £300.

The auction is part of Out of the Margins, in aid of Good Chance, the Theatre of Hope, creators of The Jungle and The Walk with Little Amal, to support their work with refugee artists, in collaboration with Christie's.

The Jerry Springer item is one of over 50 up for auction, which have jotted anecdotes, memories, reflections and thoughts in the margins of their iconic text.

These unique annotated objects offer each lucky owner a slice of theatre history, giving the reader a glimpse into the person behind the play script, standing as an intimate testimony to the artist's own journey.

Other items include Dennis Kelly’s original longhand draft of Matilda (two notebooks) and a script for Mean Girls: The Musical signed by Tina Fey.

The auction ends on 6 October at 2pm. See all the items here. Register a bid for Jerry Springer The Opera here.
