David Baddiel will return to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe for the first time in ten years with two shows, Talking Books - Jews Don't Count & The God Desire at Assembly George Square Studios, Studio One from 2nd – 10th August at 1.20pm, as well as a rare opportunity to see a revival of his latest smash-hit one man shows with The ‘Not the…’ Trilogy (WIP).
In Talking Books - Jews Don't Count & The God Desire, join David for an informal and unscripted Q&A between David and the audience, exploring the ideas in his bestselling books Jews Don’t Count & The God Desire. Alongside readings from the books and followed by a book signing afterwards, David will answer all your questions about modern anti-semitism, God, atheism and also, if you insist, football.
The ‘Not the…’ Trilogy (WIP) will see David return to the all three of his critically acclaimed shows in a series of intimate work-in-progress performances ahead of plans to record them as comedy specials in the autumn. In 2013 Fame: Not the Musical saw David successfully return to stand-up comedy after 15 years away, this was then followed up in 2016 by My Family: Not the Sitcom, which ran on London’s West End for 15 weeks and saw David nominated for an Olivier Award. The most recent show, Trolls: Not the Dolls, toured to widespread critical acclaim in 2020 and 2021.
Baddiel tweeted: "I'll be doing 3 WIP shows reviving the three one-man shows I've done over the last decade - Fame, My Family, and Trolls - because I'm recording them for TV in the Autumn and therefore need to bloody recommit them to memory."
