John Bishop Show Guests This Week

John Bishop Show Guests This Week

Apologies of miscommunication last week. We were incorrectly told that Stephen Mangan and Seann Walsh were the guests on Saturday, January 21. But they are definitely the guests on Saturday, January 28.

Comedian John Bishop is back with another edition of his show mixing lighthearted chat with his guests with some topical stand-up from Bishop himself. It'll be interesting to see how his monologue goes down this week as the other week there were complaints on Twitter that he was too political, talking about the nurses going on strike and Prince Harry among other things.

One person on Twitter suggested that maybe Bishop was actually Jeremy Corbyn in a mask. Another asked: "did it give one of those ‘there now follows a party political broadcast on behalf of the Labour party’ before the start?" Another wrote: "#johnbishopshow regardless of your views on the whole Harry and RF situation l don’t think going for cheap vulgar laughs when they are going through a lot of pain as a family and obvious mental pain is on really".

This week's guests are Stephen Mangan and Sean Walsh. Mangan, who co-presents Landscape Artist of the Year with Dame Joan Bakewell and writes children's books, should be up for an easy chat. Conversation with stand-up comedian Seann Walsh might be a bit more delicate. Will they dance around the subject of Walsh and Strictly Come Dancing or face it head-on?

Seann Walsh has been honest about the toll the tabloid scandal took on his mental health in his live shows. In fact he was even nominated for Edinburgh Comedy Award Best Show at the Edinburgh Fringe last summer for his latest set. Since then he has appeared on I'm A Celebrity.. and has had a bit of a bromance with Matt Hancock which won over some people while others wondered when his name was revealed, if doing the programmes was the right thing to do at this stage in his career.

Hopefully Bishop will ask some probing questions rather than go purely for laughs if the topic of Strictly and the subsequent fallout comes up.

The John Bishop Show, Saturday, January 28, 9.30pm, ITV1.
