Comedian Tom Binns Admits Indecent Image Charges

Comedian Tom Binns has admitted five counts of making and one of possessing indecent images of children.

Binns, 52, admitted the charges at an earlier hearing. He will be sentenced later this month.

According to a BBC Radio report he had asked a family friend to sell three devices which contained images, on ebay. Binns has said on Twitter that this is not how the investigation started.

Binns is best known for his comedy character Ivan Brackenbury, a hapless DJ who he regularly played on the comedy circuit. In 2007 he was nominated for an Edinburgh Comedy Award Best Newcomer Award. Brackenbury then expanded the character and played others in his own 2017 BBC sitcom, Hospital People.

He also played the psychic comedy character Ian D Montfort. During his time as the character he claimed to have discovered a genuine 'psychic' ability and started performing as the ‘Psychic Comedium' (pictured).

Binns has also appeared in programmes including The IT Crowd, Spooks, Drifters and Knowing Me, Knowing You with Alan Partridge and in two episodes of 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown. According to IMDB he was in Stewart Lee and Richard Herring's BBC series Fist of Fun but according to Herring writing on the FoF website "usually gets cut out.").
