Social Media Comments On Matt Hancock In Im A Celebrity

Twitter Has Field Day After Matt Hancock Stung By Scorpion In Im A Celebrity Jungle

Social media has been awash with thoughts about Matt Hancock's arrival in the I'm A Celebrity camp with comedian Seann Walsh. As expected the snake-fearing Hancock has been chosen to do a snake-related task as soon as he joined the camp, the Tentacles of Terror. He was also slammed for not knowing the words to Sweet Caroline when the camp had a singalong. And, inevitably, he was chosen to do a bushtucker trial for the second night in a row.

Danny Baker tweeted: "All the camp mates at @imacelebrity wrestling with what to do about the outrageous @ITV insertion of Tory creep Matt Hancock. Walk out. I promise you, I would have done. Just walk out en masse. Walk out and let @ITV clean up the political mess they have wilfully created."

TV critic Julia Raeside got a lot of traction when she wrote: "I think Matt Hancock actually breaks the format. Because Ant & Dec are supposed to be us. Them finding this a bit of a hoot feels all wrong. There are a lot of angry people with dead relatives not finding this funny. #ImACelebrity"

Critic Phil Harrison agreed: "The problem with Hancock on here is he's loving it. If I'd lost a loved one during covid, I'd be incandescent with rage. Fuck him. He can't be redeemed or forgiven because he doesn't think he needs to be. And his presence has broken the show. #ImACeleb"

@RYRY_212 aka Ryan tweeted: "I don’t care how likeable, funny or “normal” Matt Hancock might come across on I’m A Celeb, I will not forget his actions & decisions during the pandemic. He’s went on this show to improve his public image and is being paid thousands for it. It’s a fucking joke. #ImACeleb"

Another Ryan, @Ryanbeard, supported Boy George's comments about the former Health Secretary: "Boy George is bang on there. Matt Hancock was part of the government who made decisions that ultimately killed people in our country whilst they were having parties and getting up to god knows what else."

@lorrainedon7 suggested: "The best thing we can do about @MattHancock being in the jungle is not vote for him to do trials.. don’t give him what he wants. Once the vote opens for them to leave, go for your life. Has totally ruined @imacelebrity for me this year #ImACeleb #dontvotematt"

Elsewhere it was suggested that the other campmates should unite and ask Hancock to leave, but while there are probably celebrities who don't want him there there is not much sign of a united front against him at the moment. Sue Cleaver and Chris Moyles are certainly not keen on him.

Rhona Briggs tweeted: "How can Matt Hancock be scared of snakes when he's a Tory MP? #ImACeleb Furthermore, he should be at work, not titting about in the jungle."

Former Labour spin doctor got more political:"Watching a @Channel4News report on the dreadful latest NHS stats and the awful pressures staff are working under. Hope someone manages to show it to @MattHancock"

To which @dgeorgeb3 replied: "It’s not funny that MP Matt Hancock is on #ImACeleb not funny he’s getting £400k. Not funny that he didn’t get PPE to front life workers that died of Covid. Not funny that Nurses are striking at the same time. It’s not fucking funny at all. It’s sick"
