Sunday Brunch – This Week's Guests And Guest Presenter

No Tim Lovejoy this week which will no doubt delight his critics and upset his fans. Instead Miquita Oliver is guest presenter alongside Simon Rimmer. Maybe they should try to get Simon Amstell in as well and resurrect Popworld...

The guests this week include Nina Wadia. The star of Goodness Gracious Me and more recently EastEnders collected an OBE earlier this year. She said at the time that she wished her parents had been there. “There’s something about growing up in this little house in India, I never in a million years thought that this could happen to someone like me. If they were here, I would have had a fight over who to bring – mum or dad.  I wish they were here, because this would mean so much more. I miss them terribly.”

Also appearing on the show is actor Simon Callow, who recently paid tribute to Maggie Smith saying the Downton Abbey star is a woman who can “do anything at all”. Callow also stirred up controversy a few weeks ago with his comments that straight actors can play gay roles because imagination is more important than direct experience. Callow is currently to be seen on the West End stage in the revival of the hit musical Anything Goes.

Mia McKenna-Bruce, one of the stars of the Netflix version of Persuasion, is also on the show. Ben Bailey Smith, also known as comedian and rapper Doc Brown, plays Charles. McKenna-Bruce said of making the film: "“It could be crazy, because we’d be wearing corsets and other period pieces. It was like being in a film – obviously we were shooting a film, but it also felt like living in one because you’d look around at one another like what are we doing?"

Sunday Brunch, Sunday, July 24, 9.30am, C4
