Mae Martin Loses Wrestling Championship

Mae Martin, Josie Long, Jen Brister And More Join Just for Laughs Line-Up

Reigning Wrestling champion Mae Martin was sensationally defeated backstage after a gig by Ray Badran, in footage captured by Lolly Adefope.

Adefope, who was humbly thanking her fans on Instagram live, happened to catch the moment that Badran - feigning misery after a bad set - trapped Martin in a pinning predicament and claimed the belt for himself.

The belt’s journey began when then-champion Joe Lycett decreed his championship belt to be “up for grabs 24/7, until the main event of The Wrestling”. Since then, the title has been won by John Robins, who crept onstage at the Apollo and defeated Lycett in a sneak attack. Robins subsequently lost the belt to Martin, who locked him in a sleeper hold whilst Robins was distracted filming one of his many Cameo messages.

Badran now has until August 23rd to retain the belt, at which point he - or whoever is then-champion - will have to defend it, in the main event of The Wrestling.

The Wrestling is taking place August 23rd, 11pm, Assembly Main Hall, in aid of Comic Relief.

Produced by Max & Ivan, Berk’s Nest and AEG.
