Lee Mack Livens Up Platinum Gig With Partygate Gag

Lee Mack Is Best And Worst Thing About Royal Variety Performance

Comedian Lee Mack ruffled a few feathers by making a topical joke during his appearance onstage at the Queen's Platinum Jubilee Concert.

Standing in front of Buckingham Palace's entrance Mack quipped: “Finally we can say the words ‘party’ and ‘gate’ and it’s a positive.”

Prime Minister Boris Johnson and his wife Carrie were among the guests at the concert.

Social media inevitably got excited about the unexpected gag.

Lindsay Rogers tweeted: "Excellent work @LeeMack"

Nigel Jackson joked: "’m certain that someone will explain all the gags to him later, after all he has a cabinet full of jokers"

The droycer tweeted: "When Lee Mack made his partygate quip… Nadine Dorries will say it’s fake."

Adam Hamilton added: "Lee Mack, take a bow sir! Absolutely brilliant"

Geoffrey Gibson joked: "Lee Mack 1968-2022 killed by Boris for making fun of him"

Sammy said: "WHY is ITV news commenting on an ad-lib joke by Lee Mack ffs

Boris has a wicked sense of humour and would laugh with the rest of us! Some people are angry they say he's being political, the left thinks he's having a pop at Boris. NO ITS JUST A FCUKING JOKE LAUGH!!"

Mike tweeteed: "@NadineDorries is busy writing her next tweet about how she definitely heard Lee Mack say beer gate and that everyone else miss heard it because the crowd were cheering so loudly for Boris. #PlatinumJubileeconcert #borisbooed #Partygate"

Poet Laurebot made it rhyme: Roses are red, Violets are hearty, Lee Mack makes partygate joke in front of Boris Johnson at Queen's Platinum Party."

Rhyan Clarke (if he was being serious) defended the PM: "I'm really disappointed in Lee Mack for doing this. There are a lot of serious issues going on in the world and people in entertainment should support the PM. Boris was found innocent and has made us the best country ever."
