Taskmaster star Ardal O'Hanlon is set to publish a new novel.

Brouhaha is published on 26 May, 2022. Ardal’s first novel, Talk of the Town which was published over 20 years ago, was a critical success. The Sunday Times called it ‘an impressive debut, lit with a real spark of the Irish comic grotesque.’ GQ said it was ‘funny and brutally cynical’; whilst the Mail on Sunday claimed that ‘O’Hanlon is blessed with a genuine literary talent’.

Brouhaha is a thrilling, razor-sharp, comic satire on Ireland’s “tangled politics of memory”. It’s set in a small town on the Irish border during the transition to peace, a place similar to the town Ardal grew up in. Full of deadpan characterisation and dark humour, this novel brilliantly exposes the oddities, blind spots, and petty hypocrisies of everyday human interactions for comic value. This is a story about community, compassion, truth and the ideological conflicts that have shaped Irish society for over a century. I’m attaching the press release.

O'Hanlon can currently be seen on C4 on Thursday nights in Taskmaster and is touring later this year.
