Billy Connolly to Receive A Bafta Fellowship

Comedy legend Billy Connolly is to receive a BAFTA Fellowship, the highest honour Bafta gives out.

This is not the first BAFTA trophy he has received. In 2002 the iconic Scot received a Special Award from BAFTA, while 2012 saw him celebrated by BAFTA Scotland for his Outstanding Contribution to Film and Television. He accepts his latest award with gratitude, humility and his usual good humour. “I had no idea the Fellowship existed but I’m told it’s a big deal,” he chuckles from his house on the Florida Keys. “So it’s lovely to be recognised and to become a jolly good fellow.”

The 2022 Virgin Media British Academy Television Awards, are hosted by Richard Ayoade this Sunday, May 8, and acreened on BBC One at 18.00 BST.
