The makers of Britain's Got Talent have come under fire after it has emerged that comedian Axel Blake, who bagged a Golden Buzzer on Sunday night, has already had a stand-up special on Amazon's Prime Video platform.

Axel Blake: I'm Not Gonna Lie, was filmed at the Indigo2 in London. It is not currently available, but shows that Blake is not exactly a new talent.

In fact his publicity blurb on the Top Secret Comedy Club in London where he has recently gigged confirms that he is an experienced stand-up. "AXEL BLAKE  has built his reputation as one of the UK’s leading entertainers.  He first performed on Mother’s Day in March 2009 having been inspired by Slim, Kojo and Richard Blackwood.  These 3 comedians continue to offer him inspiration both as comedians and business men.  Known for his energetic, animated and confident character his comedy comes with a sharp and truthful insight that only a stand up comedian can get away with.  Whilst still a young talent, Axel's truthful and observational style of comedy highlights his experience on the scene."

This is not the first time in this series that the show has been criticised for putting someone on who has showbusiness experience. Singer Loren Allred, who also received the Golden Buzzer a week earlier, sang Never Enough from the hit movie The Greatest Showman, although she did not actually appear in the film. A spokesperson said: "Whilst most people will have heard the infamous Greatest Showman track, Loren is not a household name, and she deserves her spot on the BGT stage."

A number of comedians have appeared on the show over the years who have been familiar to comedy fans from the stand-up circuit. Noel James was a veteran comic before getting his break on the show and Lost Voice Guy had had coverage before winning Britain's Got Talent. 

Next week's show features musical comic Brian Damage, who has been a very popular circuit regular for many years.
