Slapstick Festival To Pay Tribute To Barry Cryer With Special Show

Actor, comedian and TV presenter Les Dennis is to host a Slapstick festival tribute to his longtime friend and comedy collaborator Barry Cryer at Bristol’s Redgrave Theatre on Sunday 27 March, 3.30pm.

The event – happening four days after what should have been the star’s 87th birthday - was originally due to be an audience with the veteran gag-master who spent more than six decades writing material or performing with a Who’s Who of comedy greats and who was a Patron and regular guest at Slapstick’s annual festival of silent and vintage screen comedy.

But the star’s death on January 25 means it will now become a chance for his son Bob Cryer and his I’M SORRY I HAVEN’T A CLUE colleagues Graeme Garden and Colin Sell to share their fondest Barry Cryer memories and favourite jokes, with the help of clips and video messages from other celebrity fans.  There will also be reminders of Barry’s many appearances at Slapstick, including from when he received the festival’s Comedy Legend Award.

Tickets are on sale now priced at £18 (£16 concessions) with all profits going at the family’s request to The Royal Variety Charity. To book, visit: https://redgravetheatre.com/event/2022/03/barry-cryer-a-tribute-with-a-little-help-from-his-friends/1230/.
