John Bishop Show Guests This Week

John Bishop Show Guests This Week

Last week I wrote about how ITV was a bit slow in announcing who the guests were on upcoming editions of John Bishop's new Saturday night show. I don't know if I have much influence on the channel's publicity department but I noticed that this week they have been very efficient and have announced the guests well in advance. The shiny-toothed comedian is joined by fellow entertainer Rob Brydon and Otis Mabuse.

As well as being the regular host on BBC One's Would I Lie To You? Brydon has recently been touring with his show in which he mixes songs with stories, showing what a versatile performer he is. He is back on the road again in 2022. Personally I'd like to see him do another series of The Trip with Steve Coogan. Maybe now restrictions are starting to lift that might be more of a possibility, though Coogan is currently busy working on his drama about Jimmy Savile.

Oti Mabuse has become a TV regular in recent years and following her success on Strictly Come Dancing, winning the show twice, she is now a judge on Dancing on Ice and is soon to be seen presenting a new show Romeo and Duet (from an idea by David and Ivor Baddiel) in which contestants choose their potential romantic partners by hearing them sing rather than seeing them. Well, it makes a difference from Naked Attraction.

As for the John Bishop Show, it'll be interesting to hear the host's opening monologue, filmed on the evening of broadcast to give it a topical edge. Will he be able to top his satirical outburst last week when he said: "Do us a favour Boris – stop lying to us and being a p***k.” Tune in and see for yourselves.

The John Bishop Show, Saturday, January 21, 9.30pm, ITV1.
