Autobiography From Paddy McGuinness

Autobiography From Paddy McGuinness

Presenter, actor, comedian and working class lad Paddy McGuinness surprises everyone, including himself, with his story of young Patrick, the tearaway teen from Bolton who ended up on primetime.

Paddy McGuinness is a regular presence on British TV, from his roles in Phoenix Nights, Max and Paddy and The Keith and Paddy Picture Show to presenting primetime TV shows such as Take Me Out and BBC's motoring juggernaut Top Gear, as well as having sold out venues on his stand-up tours.

But how did it all start? Let Paddy take you back to a two-up, two-down terrace in 1970s Bolton, where his lifey began. He grew up alone with his beloved mum Pat, who worked two jobs, as a barmaid and a cleaner, always keeping food on the table at home and almost always keeping her tearaway teen out of trouble.

The road from kipping in abandoned cars with his mates in Bolton to racing supercars on Top Gear has been eventful, with multiple turning points, including formative hard graft as a labourer, a showbiz intervention by school friend Peter Kay and eye-popping adventures in the world of teledom. In My Lifey, Paddy tells hilarious stories from his youth, reveals his unexpected path to showbiz, shows the twists and turns of family life and takes us behind-the-scenes of our favourite TV shows. My Lifey is a glimpse into the life of one of the most ubiquitous personalities on British TV today.
