News: BBC Goes Digital on The Fringe

The BBC is to screen experimental short films from top comedians at the Edinburgh Fringe. Diane Morgan's Clickbait, taking place at the BBC's Potterow venue this Sunday, will be hosted by comedian Morgan, best known for her appearances as Philomena Cunk on Charlie Brooker's Weekly Wipe, and will be streamed online live. Morgan will also be chatting to the digital pioneers about their work during the show.

Those taking part include Alex Horne, who has made an exclusive video. Simon Munnery will be displaying his Fylm-Makker contraption (consisting of a small video camera and a mirror), which allows him to present his comedy stories, songs and animations in an entirely new way – projected onto a large screen. Prank-playing physical comedian Red Bastard was asked to make a video but instead he will be asking for some audience participation involving film and cameras. David Trent will be airing some of his video work and Japanese clowns Gamarjobat will be directing their own multi-camera shoot. There will also be contributions from controversial artist/performer Kim Noble, Sara Pascoe and Bec Hill.

Diane Morgan's Clickbait  will be streamed live from 9pm until 10pm on Sunday, August 17. It will also be available in episodic form (per comedian) on The Space, BBC Arts Online and on BBC Comedy YouTube. The Space is a free website for artists and audiences to create and explore exciting new art. It commissions new talent and artists from all art forms, creative industries, technical and digital backgrounds, through regular Open Calls and partnerships. Set up by the BBC and the Arts Council England, The Space is a free public space, a not-for-profit public service for artists and audiences around the world.
