News: Mock The Week Guests Tonight

Mock The Week – New Series, New Guests (And Some Familiar Faces)

At a time when weekdays and weekends are starting to blur into one for many, Thursday night feels like the start of the weekend for me because there are so many comedy programmes on TV and i personally used to think of Friday nights as comedy nights. The line-up of Mock The Week on BBC One at 9.30pm is particularly good tonight, with rising star of the moment Maisie Adam and Angela Barnes joining Milton Jones, Rhys James, Ed Gamble, Hugh Dennis and Dara O Briain.

Adam recently won Richard Osman's House of Games and also apopeared on The Last Leg and Would I Lie To You? among other shows. When live comedy returns make sure you see her in the flesh, she's a natural comedian with real funny bones.

She also currently does the voiceover for ITV2 dating show The Cabins. When she announced the news she tweeted: "Anyone who knows me knows I bloody LOVE a dating show, so I’m over the moon to be providing the voice in your ears for this brilliant show."

Meanwhile over on C4 there's 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown at 9pm, with Jimmy Carr, Jon Richardson and Sean Lock joined by Harriet Kemsley (who is married to fellow comedian Bobby Mair), Joe Lycett and one of the most brilliantly inventive oddball comedians around Mat Ewin, who is in Dictionary Corner with Susie Dent while Rachel Riley does the letters and numbers bits.

And on BBC Two at 9pm there's good old QI, hosted by Sandi Toksvig. This week panel regular Alan Davies is joined by wizard of the dancefloor Bill Bailey, Katy Brand and Eshaan Akbar.

Like Maisie Adam, Mat Ewins is one of my favourite comedians. His live interactive multi-media shows are works of hairbrained genius and he is not on television enough. He is another act to put in your must-see diary once the live circuit takes off again. Which rest assured, it will. At some point.

Oh and at 10pm on C4 it's the second episode of the David Mitchell/Robert Webb comedy Back, written by Simon Blackwell. Although that is so brilliant anyone in their right minds will have binged on it already and watched the whole thing on All4 by now.
