Tributes have been paid to Beryl Vertue, the legendary TV producer who has died aged 90.

Vertue's career and influence stretched from The Goons to contemporary comedy. She started out as a secretary and soon became an agent to 1950s comedy luminaries including Spike Milligan and Frankie Howerd.

More recently her company Hartswood went on the produce Men Behaving Badly, first for ITV and then for BBC. The company made many more hits also including Sherlock with Benedict Cumberbatch.
