Two years ago Urooj Ashfaq came to Edinburgh and carried off the prize for Best Newcomer at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards.
 
She also received a review – and she’s been thinking about it ever since.
 
A male comedy reviewer, let’s call him Steve, described Urooj as conservative, saying her material lacked edge – so she’s come back blazing to prove him wrong.

Grace Mulvey was the first recipient of the Galton and Simpson Bursary Award aimed at writers so it is obvious that she can be funny on paper (or computer screen or phone or wherever you see things written down these days). Her latest show, Did You Hear We're All Going To Die? underlines that the London-based Irish comic is also hilarious onstage (or in person, or wherever you happen to see her). She has the word funny running through her veins.

Comedian Cancels Shows: "The Big Factor Is Oasis"

Comedian Kate Smurthwaite has had to cancel performances of two shows she has on at the Edinburgh Fringe after nobody turned up. Smurthwaite lays the blame firmly at the Oasis run of gigs in the capital that start today (August 8) for the absence of audiences turning up for her daytime show Evolution Revolution and her night-time show Milo Standards: Penis De Milo.

Smurthwaite posted on Facebook on Wednesday: "Both of these shows pulled today due to zero audience.

Comedian Cerys Nelmes Face Possible Prison Sentence In Turkey

Comedian Cerys Nelmes could be facing a jail sentence in Turkey after allegedly walking out of an Istanbul shop without paying for goods. 

Nelmes had been on holiday when towards the end of her stay she visited a branch of Zara. She said in a video that she posted on Facebook and then removed, that when she realised she had accidentally not paid she immediately returned and offered to pay, but the case quickly escalated.
