News: Susan Calman Battles For Strictly Survival

Comedian Susan Calman will be battling for survival when the latest Strictly Come Dancing votes are counted tonight.

Calman and partner Kevin Clifton came joint last in a four-way tie alongside celebrity dancers Simon Rimmer, Brian Conley and Ruth Langsford.

The judges had mixed feelings about Calman and Clifton's dance to Shout Out to My Ex by Little Mix

News: Good Ship Comedy Club Sails To Camden

After more than a decade entertaining crowds in Kilburn Good Ship Comedy is setting sail and moving a few miles east to The Colonel Fawcett in Camden Town. Over the past two years comics to have played there include Romesh Ranganathan, Sara Pascoe, Jack Whitehall, Nish Kumar, Pippa Evans, Ed Gamble, Joel Dommett, Ellie Taylor, Shappi Khorsandi, Bec Hill, Abandoman, Dane Baptiste, Mae Martin, Kiri Pritchard-McLean and Richard Herring.


News: UK Tour For Sunset Milk Idiot Tim Vine

Tim Vine is taking his latest show on the road.

Vine's Sunset Milk Idiot tour starts in Aldershot on February 6 and currently finishes at Blackpool Grand on June 7. As previously reported, he plays the Eventim Apollo in London on on May 11.


News: Sitcom Writers To Speak At Comedy Festival

Caroline Moran, who co-created the semi-autobiographical series Raised by Wolves alongside her sister Caitlin Moran, will be among the speakers at the Women And Comedy Symposium, held next week at the University’s New Adelphi Building ahead of the launch of Manchester’s Women In Comedy Festival.

The series, which was named best sitcom at the prestigious Rose d’Or Awards, tells the tale of the sisters’ upbringing in Wolverhampton.

Review: Trigger Happy TV, All4

Is there still a place for Dom Joly in 2017? After returning with a first All4 series of Trigger Happy TV he is now back with a second series and I'm not so sure.

Part of the problem is not his fault, it's just bad timing. Having recently seen ballsy prankster Simon Brodkin blag his way into the front row of the Tory Party Conference seeing Joly pretending to be an Uber driver on a motorised lawnmower hardly feels like the height of subversion.

David Walliams and Sheridan Smith star in the TV version of Walliams' children’s novel Ratburger, which comes to Sky One and NOW TV this Christmas. Walliams plays evil villain Burt and Sheridan is the horrid stepmother.

News: Jongleurs Closes

Jongleurs' comedy clubs appear to have closed.

A message was sent out this afternoon saying that as of today Roving Ventures Ltd (the licensee of Jongleurs Comedy) is to suspend operations.

More details to follow but this has major ramifications for comedians who had been booked to perform at the various Jongleurs clubs around the country and Jongleurs On The Road too. There is also the issue of where comedians stand regarding outstanding payments. An administrator is to be appointed.


News: Book Deal For Ex Comedy Agent

Ex comedy agent Hannah Begbie has signed a book deal with HarperFiction.

Her first book will be Mother, her novel exploring the identities women “juggle” throughout life, inspired by her son’s cystic fibrosis. It will be published in 2018.

News: Trailer Park Boys Star Dies

John Dunsworth, better known as Jim Lahey in the Trailer Park Boys series, has died. He was 71.

Dunsworth’s daughter Sarah posted the news on social media. She wrote, “With heavy and broken hearts the family of John F. Dunsworth would like to let people know that our amazing husband, father and grandfather John Dunsworth has passed away. John left this world peacefully after a short and unexpected illness.”
