News: Rowan Atkinson, Jo Brand, Rob Brydon, Nina Conti, Harry Enfield, Michael McIntyre Star In Benefit Gig

Rowan Atkinson, Jo Brand, Rob Brydon, Nina Conti, Harry Enfield, Paul Whitehouse and Michael McIntyre are among the acts performing at the 100 Hearts Charity Gala on Sunday 26 February. The show will be hosted by Clive Anderson at London's Adelphi Theatre. Tickets are on sale now.

Other confirmed stars include James Acaster, Bridget Christie, Angus Deayton and Nish Kumar. Further names to be announced.

The 100 Hearts Charity Gala is in aid of the Royal Brompton & Harefield Hospitals Charity. The funds raised from the evening will go towards the Genetics and Genomics programme at Royal Brompton Hospital, for the groundbreaking technology required to tackle the prevention of heart and lung disease. Now through DNA testing, patients affected by genetic heart and lung conditions can be diagnosed and treated early enough to circumvent the need for a transplant. This will eventually save thousands of lives.

On his decision to offer his support and perform at the event, Harry Enfield commented: “No one gets to my age without a bit of heartache – but I’ve lost very good friends through heart attacks. The Brompton can now diagnose cardiac disease through DNA testing. Which sounds a pretty good idea. So Paul (Whitehouse) and I offered to help, but instead they asked us to be in a show and let them get on with the science stuff.”

100 Hearts is the brainchild of British composer and actor Philip Pope, and his wife Rosie, whose son Will was saved by a heart transplant at Harefield Hospital on New Year’s Eve in 2012, at the age of 20.   Proceeds from 2015’s hugely successful 100 Hearts event at LSO St Luke’s funded an Organ Care System for Harefield Hospital, which has had a significant and enduring impact on the hospital’s on-going testing and research, and has increased the number of life-saving transplants being carried out.
