Acclaimed American storytelling comic Mike Birbiglia is coming to the UK. He will be performing his latest show Thank God For Jokes at the Leicester Square Theatre for one night only on October 11.
Birbiglia’s new comedy tiptoes hilariously through the minefield that is modern-day joke-telling. Join Mike as he learns that the same jokes that elicit laughter have the power to produce tears, rage, and a whole lot of getting yelled at. Ultimately it's a show that asks, “How far should we go for the laugh?” He recently performed the show off-Broadway at The Lynn Redgrave Theater.
Mike Birbiglia is a comedian, writer, actor, and director known for his highly personal approach to comedy. In 2012 Birbiglia burst onto the scene with his Sundance award-winning directorial debut Sleepwalk With Me, based on his live show of the same name. In recent years his work has started appearing on public radio’s This American Life, where he began a meaningful collaboration with host and producer Ira Glass.
He is the creator, writer and star of the film Don’t Think Twice which was released on July 22 in America. He was recently seen in the fourth season of Netflix’s Orange is the New Black and Universal’s Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping and has appeared in HBO’s Girlsas well as the films Trainwreck, The Fault in our Stars, Digging For Fire, Adult Beginners, Cedar Rapids, Going The Distance and Your Sister’s Sister.
As a writer he entered the New York Times Bestseller List with his debut work Sleepwalk With Me & Other Painfully True Stories which went on to become a finalist for the Thurber Prize For American Humor.
