
It has been reported that well-known American comedy promoter/producer Calvin Wynter has died.
According to John Fleming’s blog, Wynter, 55, had recently been having tests for cancer and died on October 29. Read the full story here.
Wynter was a familiar figure at the Edinburgh Fringe where he set up the Green Room venue in Guthrie Street (more recently a Just the Tonic venue).
He had been a judge for The Boston Comedy Festival, New York Comedy Competition and The New York Underground Comedy Festival and regularly sat on industry panels.
Before working in the arts Wynter had been a managing director of corporate finance at Lehman Brothers. He also trained as an actor.
