Comedians Go Moustache Spotting

Channel 4's digital comedy channel, A Comedy Thing, is partnering with leading men's health charity Movember for a special edition of Guess The Moustache, marking the channel's first branded partnership.

Produced by Strong Watch Studios, the episode launches on 4 October and sees comedians Vittorio Angelone, Finlay Christie and Ed Night enter a world of dubious facial hair, as they attempt to spot the real moustache from a line-up of convincing imposters.

In Guess The Moustache, comedians attempt to separate the real moustache from a line-up of convincing fakes in a fast-paced guessing game fuelled by comedy, competition and questionable facial hair. For this special edition, the format joins forces with Movember ahead of the charity's annual campaign, putting one of its most recognisable symbols centre-stage.

For more than two decades, Movember has encouraged supporters to grow a moustache each November to help raise awareness of, and funds for, key men's health issues, including mental health, suicide prevention, prostate cancer and testicular cancer.

With 60% of A Comedy Thing YouTube audience being male, and 58% aged under 35, the partnership offers a natural way to reach young men ahead of this year's Movember campaign.

Charlie Hyland, Digital Commissioning Editor for A Comedy Thing, said: “What made this such a strong partnership was the natural fit between the brand, the audience and the format. We’re always looking to devise ideas where brand integration feels seamless rather than added on, and Guess The Moustache gave us exactly that. Movember have been brilliant partners to work with and I’m delighted we could work with Vittorio, Finlay and Ed again on this project.”

Adam Cadman, Senior Marketing Campaigns Manager for Movember, said: “When  an episode of Guess The… is built entirely around the moustache, it doesn’t get much more of a natural fit for Movember than that. Guess The Moustache brings together our most recognisable symbol, a young male audience, and humour that lands, which is exactly where we want to be in the run-up to Movember. Being A Comedy Thing’s first ever branded partner makes it all the more special. Huge thanks to Channel 4, Strong Watch Studios and to Vittorio, Finlay and Ed for getting behind men’s health, and we hope everyone watching is inspired to make a Growmitment of their own.”

Thom Gulseven, Co-founder of Strong Watch Studios, said: “For our first A Comedy Thing branded partnership, we couldn’t really have asked for a better one. Movember does incredibly important work, and the fit with Guess The Moustache is perfect; we’re really proud that the first brand to come on board with A Comedy Thing is one that can make a genuine difference.”

The episode launches on A Comedy Thing's YouTube and social channels on 4 October.
