Faulty Towers The Dining Experience, the multi award-winning international immersive dining phenomenon, celebrates 30 years worldwide and 15 years in the West End in 2027, alongside its 4,000th West End performance.

The production will play its landmark 4,000th West End performance on 22 January 2027, before marking 15 years since its official West End opening on 26 October 2027.

First performed in Brisbane in 1997, Faulty Towers The Dining Experience has since become an international theatrical phenomenon, appearing in 43 countries worldwide and welcoming millions of guests. The production has toured more countries than any other Australian theatrical export, surpassing Tap Dogs, which has played in 37 countries.

It is currently the eighth longest-running production still playing in the West End (as the production is not a member of the Society of London Theatre, it does not appear in SOLT’s official longevity records.)

The show’s longevity has been built in part on its ability to go where conventional theatrical productions often cannot. Alongside theatres, Faulty Towers The Dining Experience has performed in hotel dining rooms, clubs, function spaces and unusual venues across the world, creating a touring model that has enabled the production to reach audiences far beyond traditional theatre buildings.

Created in 1997, long before immersive and interactive theatre became a familiar part of the theatrical landscape, Faulty Towers The Dining Experience places its audiences at the heart of the action.

Producer Jared Harford said: “Thirty years is an extraordinary milestone, and what makes me proudest is the company that has grown around the show. Over three decades, Faulty Towers The Dining Experience has created sustained work for generations of improvisers, comedians, actors and administrators in an industry where employment can often be short-term and insecure.

“People have built careers, bought homes, started families and travelled the world while being part of this company. None of this would have been possible without the extraordinary performers and teams in Australia and the UK who have given so much to the show over the years.

“To be celebrating 30 years worldwide, 15 years in the West End and our 4,000th West End performance all in the same year feels very special. What began as a small idea in Brisbane has grown into something none of us could have imagined – and, 43 countries later, we’re still going!”

The anniversary year will also see Faulty Towers The Dining Experience return to Australia for a major national tour, including iconic Australian venues such as the Sydney Opera House, Arts Centre Melbourne, and the Adelaide Fringe Festival.

The show will also embark on a major Scotland tour in spring 2027, visiting Palm Court Hotel, Aberdeen from 14–18 April, Forgan’s Broughty Ferry, Dundee from 20–22 April, The Corinthian Club, Glasgow from 23–25 April, and The Scotsman Hotel, Edinburgh from 27 April–2 May. 

Faulty Towers The Dining Experience began in Brisbane in 1997 before arriving in the UK in 2008, with an initial show at the Hostess in Mansfield, followed by its debut at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe later that year, where it went on to become an annual fixture.

In October 2009, the show played its first performances in London with a sold-out weekend in Covent Garden. Two further sold-out six-week summer seasons followed.

Previews for the production’s first West End residency began at Charing Cross Hotel on 16 October 2012, ahead of its official opening on 26 October 2012. The show played 1,397 performances at Charing Cross Hotel before moving to Kingsway Hall Hotel.

Over the years, the cast has performed for notable guests including Fawlty Towers actor Andrew Sachs, John McEnroe, Stefan Edberg and England footballer Joe Cole, Dame Kelly Holmes, Judy Murray, Zoe Birkett, Julia Bradbury, Corrina Brown, Pierre Novellie and Glen Moore, while the production has also taken a pop-up version of its restaurant onto the London Underground and played a sold-out performance at the Royal Albert Hall.

In 2019, Faulty Towers The Dining Experience welcomed its one millionth guest at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, marking the occasion with bagpipes and Champagne.

After losing 359 performances during the Covid shutdown, the production returned to London on 2 September 2021, among the earlier West End productions to reopen.

In 2022, the production moved to its current West End home at the President Hotel in Bloomsbury, as it celebrated 25 years worldwide and ten years of its London residency.
