Stand-up comedian Joe Bor’s jokes have been used – with his permission – in a new series of greetings cards by Hallmark. Among the gags being used is the one illustrated here, “My wife told me sex is better on holiday. That was not a nice postcard to received.”
The warm up for The Graham Norton Show, Mock the Week, Never Mind the Buzzcocks and Sunday Night at the Palladium, and creator of cult character Jasper Cromwell Jones, has taken a different view from other comics who don't like their jokes being used in print and agreed to become part of Hallmark’s Shoebox collection of quick-witted cards.
“I've always been an avid fan of greetings cards” says Bor. “At their best they can be inspiring and extremely funny and I am very proud to have my own range coming out.”
Matt Goodman, head of humour at Hallmark Cards, said: “Joe has been a brilliant contributor supplying some fantastic gags for our Shoebox collection. Now we have a range of cards guaranteed to 'stand up' on the mantelpiece!”
Another of Bor's quips being used by Hallmark is "The inventor of crisps is getting divorced. His ex-wife is gonna get a packet."
Other comedians also involved in the new campaign include Diane Spencer, 'Sixth Form Poet', Jeremy O'Donnell, Ria Lina and Yianni Agisilaou. Iszi Lawrence's card says: "I'm a feminist but I wont talk about women's issues. period."
Joe Bor is performing his new show in London in June & July.
