
Austentatious, the award-winning improvised Jane Austen novel - which is now in its 14th year onstage – will mark 250 years since Jane Austen’s birth this December, with appearances from three special guest stars.
Joining the rotating Austentatious cast will be PATERSON JOSEPH (Vigil, Noughts + Crosses) on Monday 1stDecember 2025, MEL GIEDROYC (Company at the Gielgud Theatre, Starter For Ten at the Bristol & Birmingham, HMS Pinafore with ENO) on Monday 8th December 2025 and STEPHEN MANGAN (The Split, Green Wing, I’m Alan Partridge) on Monday 15th December 2025. This live-action, comedy costume-drama (complete with improvised script, lights and soundtrack) will see Austentatious throw their guests in the deep end this December, by taking a never-before-heard title from the audience and staging a ‘lost’ Jane Austen novel – for the first and last time. Each show will be a uniquely hilarious, one off, literary masterpiece. Past improvised Jane Austen novels including ‘Manspread Park’, ‘The Thursday Afternoon Tea Club’, and ‘Tent and Tent Stability’.
2025 marks 250 years since Jane Austen’s birth, sparking an explosion of interest in her wit worldwide. On social media, #AustenTok has reportedly accumulated over 20.8 million views, and Austentatious’s clips of their own completely improvised, Austen-inspired comedy have been viewed and enjoyed in their millions across @austenimpro and @austenwestend channels.
The rotating Austentatious cast includes: Amy Cooke-Hodgson (Disney’s We Were the Lucky Ones), Cariad Lloyd (Weirdos Book Club with Sara Pascoe, Griefcast, QI, 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown), Charlotte Gittins (Paul Merton & Suki Webster’s Improv Show), Daniel Nils Roberts (award-nominated podcast Come Into My Kitchen), Graham Dickson (founder of The Free Association), Joseph Morpurgo (Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee), Lauren Shearing (Mischief Movie Night) and Rachel Parris (BAFTA nominee for The Mash Report, Live at the Apollo, Mock the Week).
14 years, 700+ ‘lost’ novels and several Radio 4 specials later, Austentatious has become an institution of the live entertainment, literary and festival scenes. First performed in a tiny pub theatre in 2011, the show was a surprise hit at 2012’s Edinburgh Festival. Austentatious has since attracted audiences from across the globe, in venues from London’s West End to the RSC (Stratford) to Hampton Court Palace.
