Comedian/broadcaster Hardeep Singh Kohli has been arrested and charged in connection with alleged sexual offences, The Times has reported.

Kohli, 54, has appeared on TV programmes including The One Show, Celebrity Big Brother and Celebrity MasterChef and regulatly appeared at the Edinburgh Fringe festival.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “A 54-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with allegations of non-recent sexual offences. He has been released on an undertaking to appear in court at a later date. A report of the circumstances has been submitted to the procurator fiscal.”

Kohli grew up in Glasgow and studied law at university. He combined his love of comedy and food in his 2009 show, The Nearly Naked Chef, in which he cooked curry onstage. His book Indian Takeaway was published in 2008.

He also wrote the Channel 4 sitcom Meet The Magoons and lived on the streets while filming Famous, Rich and Homeless for the BBC.
