In response to venues being closed on New Year’s Eve - Working From Home: Good Riddance 2020 from Just The Tonic has been announced featuring some of the best comedians in the UK including Romesh Ranganathan, Al Murray & John Thompson. Expect to see a mixture of live comedy, prerecorded bits, chats, sketches and silly stuff
For this one-off special event they are taking over one of the Ed Fringe Festival Just The Tonic venue - The Caves, moving out of the spare room ‘studio’, and into a more atmospheric space. The show will be live-streamed from 8pm - 1am, with intro music from 7.15pm (to give you time to get logged on, hit your laptop, shout at the internet then realise you haven’t done it all correctly!).
In April Just the Tonic responded to the lockdown by being one of the first in the world to put on livestream events and selling tickets to an audience. Their first show in early May sold over 1800 tickets. This show was supposed to be a one off, and it featured Jon Richardson, Matt Forde, Paul McCaffrey amongst others. Successive shows have seen the likes of Kerry Godliman, Jason Manford, Russell Kane, Milton Jones, Matthew Horne, Johnny Vegas and Ross Noble join the many others involved in this chaotic and groundbreaking show.
Just the Tonic was launched in Nottingham over 25 years ago and has played host to countless up-and-coming comics as well as the most established TV names. It is now one of the most respected live comedy brands across the UK with venues in Leicester, Birmingham, Nottingham, Reading and Watford. It also runs shows at leading festivals including the Leicester Comedy Festival and the Edinburgh Festival. Past and recent performers include the likes of Ricky Gervais, Al Murray, Bill Bailey, Stewart Lee, Simon Pegg, Noel Fielding, Dylan Moran, Ross Noble, Daniel Kitson and Johnny Vegas.
