News: CBBC Star Archie Lyndhurst Dies

Archie Lyndhurst, one of the stars of CBBC comedy So Awkward and the son of Nicholas Lyndhurst, has died. He was 19.

The BBC has reported that he died after a short illness.

He played secondary school student Ollie Coulton in the CBBC show. CBBC head of content Cheryl Taylor said he was "such a talented young actor. All of us at BBC Children's are devastated. He will be greatly missed by us all and our deepest condolences go out to his family and friends at this time."

His father, best known as Rodney in Only Fools and Horses, appeared on So Awkard with Archie in 2019 (pictured)

Only Fools co-star John Challis, who played Boycie, paid tribute on Twitter: "The saddest news of all today. The death of Archie Lyndhurst, just starting out on his chosen career in acting. My heart aches for Nick and Lucy. They could not have loved him more."

Archie Lyndhurst also played a younger version of Jack Whitehall's character in the BBC comedy Bad Education.
