TV Review: Two Weeks To Live, Sky One

maisie williams two weeks to live

Sky seems to be on a bit of a roll at the moment with edgy comedy dramas. There was the Sue Perkins/Mel Giedroyc Hitmen, then the current I Hate Suzie with Billie Piper. And now here comes Game Of Thrones star Maisie Williams in the rollercoaster comedy Two Weeks To Live.

It would spoil the fun to give away too much of the plot, but basically Williams plays Kim Noakes, an otherworldy, unpredictable young woman in big boots who sets out to settle some scores when a prank makes her think that the world is going to end in a fortnight.

Along the way she teams up with two colourful brothers. Nicky, played by stand-up comic Mawaan Rizwan and Jay (Taheen Modak). Meanwhile Jay also has girlfriend issues of his own to sort out with Beth, played by Kerry Howard.

The plot belts along at a fair old lick, with Sian Clifford from Fleabag quickly pitching up as Kim’s ruthless crossbow-carrying mum Tina. And naturally when there are big wads of cash floating around, the cops become involved, with familiar film face Jason Flemyng getting a meaty part too.

It's the kind of quickfire series that you'll want to binge on, with some classic moments – particularly an extended fight scene between Kim and a textbook gangster played by Sean Pertwee. It goes on for ages and is hilariously funnyas well as brutal - you can almost hear the bones crunch.

Plenty of surprises, plenty of thrills and spills and Williams is excellent as misfit Kim who goes on a literal as well as an emotional journey.

Two Weeks To Live, Sky One, Wednesdays, 10pm from September 2. Boxed set available after first episode airs.
