Cult comedy happening the Alternative Comedy Memorial Society is going online.
Last year's Edinburgh Fringe shows at the Monkey Barrel were filmed and will now be aired on YouTube.
The aim is to raise some money to keep the Monkey Barrel afloat and to support performers too.
15 of 2019's mixed-bill shows will go online during August, starting on Monday, August 10th.
"The ACMS has been witnessed by only a select few. Now finally you can watch it, naked, without the intoxication of “live experience” to make you think it’s good. Oh, I mean the show is naked, not you. But that’s another advantage - watching it at home means we can’t make you put clothes on," says John-Luke Roberts, co-host and co-founder of ACMS
Performers will include over 100 people, including Alice Fraser, Bec Hill, Egg, John Hastings, Joz Norris, Yuriko Kotani, and professional wrestler Colt Cabana. The online shows will only feature performances from acts who have given their blessing to be featured
These shows will be publicly accessible on YouTube for 24 hours, on the days when ACMS would have been live onstage.
You can watch them for free but people are strongly encouraged to donate to the Monkey Barrel's crowdfunder, and the performers' Ko-Fi/Patreon type pages. See below for donation links.
It will premiere at midday with Thom Tuck & miscellaneous others on YouTube's Live Chat doing text commentary, so it feels like An Event.
