News: Comedy Store Sells Out Henley Drive-In Shows And Adds More Gigs

The legendary Comedy Store is to return – by putting on drive-in comedy shows.

The organisation, which has not been able to stage club gigs in the UK since mid-March due to Covid19, has announced its first two drive-in shows in the UK over the summer of 2020. The shows are in partnership with CAR PARK PARTY, the UK’s first socially distanced and safe entertainment experience. CAR PARK PARTY is a ‘drive-in’ event bringing together world renowned brands delivering socially distanced fun in Henley and at Powderham Castle in Exeter .

CAR PARK PARTY provides not just an evening, but a whole weekend to look forward to. Each day will hold a different fun-filled experience showcasing Car Park Comedy, Car Park Karaoke and Car Park Cinema, something for all of the family and friends to enjoy.

Over the last forty years comedians including Eddie Izzard, John Bishop, Jimmy Carr, Rhod Gilbert and Sarah Millican have cut their teeth at The Comedy Store and have since gone on to become household names. This will be your chance to watch the very best the UK comedy circuits new and emerging talent before anyone else whilst remaining socially isolated in your car. Acts will be announced a few weeks prior to each show. Tickets go on general sale on 22 May 2020 at 10am at livenation.co.uk and www.carparkparty.com

The Comedy Store’s Don Ward said “ Comedy is such a great tonic in troubled times. Being part of an collective experience, sharing a laugh is so life affirming   - with clubs and Theatres closed we felt it important to find a way to bring comedy to its audience – and I’m delighted to say we have..”

Live Nation’s Anna Cooke said “ It felt such a natural progression afterworking with the Store on the UK  wide  residencies, to assist on the drive in shows. I’m sure these two will be the first of many”

Drive-in comedy may be the only way to see live comedy in the UK in the next few months. Comedian Tom Binns also recently announced that he is trying to put together a major drive-in tour of the UK. Details here
