Hit sitcom Bravo Two Charlies is to return for a second series on BBC Radio Wales from May 11th.
After the success of the first series broadcast last year – it was the most downloaded BBC Radio Wales show on the BBC Sounds app show outside Wales and popular across the UK - six new episodes have been recorded on location in Llandudno.
The show centres on a team of North Wales Traffic Police officers and their far from everyday stories. It’s written by Matt Leys, who among many other credits, was a lead writer on The Bill and Martin Trenaman (PhoneShop, The Inbetweeners, Quiz) who also stars, alongside an otherwise all-Welsh cast of Sion Pritchard, Simon Holland Roberts, Rhian Green, Laura Dalgleish, Rhys ap Trefor and Sarah Breese.
Matt and Martin say “We are delighted that BBC Radio Wales let us loose again with these wonderful characters and their extraordinary world. We always enjoy writing comedy just northwest of normal and Bravo Two Charlies is the perfect vehicle. Blessed with a brilliant cast and infused with the sea air of Llandudno, series 2 is bigger, stranger, wilder and funnier in every way. We have beached whales, wild swimming, stolen penguins, the Belgian air force, a wedding, a safari and a missing kidney. A lot happens in North Wales, and most of it happens to our traffic cops.”
Producer, Steve Doherty added “it’s wonderful being able to bring something as ambitious and funny as this show to life on the airwaves. And just as great to bring the cast to Bodafon Farm Park in beautiful Llandudno, where we recorded the show.”
Bravo Two Charlies was in the can just before ‘lockdown’ put a stop to radio and tv comedy and drama productions right across the UK.
Bravo Two Charlies airs in the BBC Radio Wales comedy slot (Mondays at 6.30pm) from 11th May, repeated the following Saturday at 1.30pm.
