American broadcaster Fox has confirmed that they have given the green light to a pilot of award-winning BBC hit This Country.

 

Deadline reports that it will be a co-production between Lionsgate, Fox, BBC Studios and Feigco Entertainment.

 

Sex and the City writer and producer Jenny Bicks will be involved in the US version and Bridesmaids director Paul Feig will direct.

 

The American mockumentary version will follow the lives of cousins Kelly and Shrub Mallet. Original creators and stars Daisy May Cooper and Charlie Cooper will also be among the executive producers.

 

The third series of This Country will launch on BBC Three on February 17 at 7pm, with episodes being released weekly rather than as a boxed set. The Coopers recently announced at a preview screening that it will be the final series. Daisy May Cooper's next project is Witchfinder, a new comedy co-starring Tim Key.
