News: Latest Weirdos Panto Comes to London

The famously anarchic Weirdos Panto is back for two nights only at the Bloomsbury Theatre in December, raising funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity.

What began in 2012 as a ludicrous and unnecessary recreation of Stephen Spielberg’s Hook, the Weirdos Panto has steadily graduated from the dingy, and at times very flooded, basements of London, to sell-out performances at the Leicester Square Theatre and the Alexander Palace Ice Rink. With an almost cult-like following and a knack for “making us laugh at very strange things” (The Independent), this 6th incarnation of the Weirdo’s Charity Panto, Weirdos Save Christmas... and the Local High Street Pub, sees the raucous collective grace the stage of the Bloomsbury Theatre for two nights.

Weirdos shows are never short on imagination and this year is no exception. Weirdos Save Christmas...andtheLocalHighStreetPubseesapluckylocalpubunderthreatfromgiant corporations, attempting to stay afloat and save Christmas with the aid of a magical chicken and a talking nut roast. It’s a race against time to create the greatest Christmas dinner ever and win the prize money that comes with it. It’s silly, unpredictable and wildly innovative - somewhere between a traditional family pantomime and David Lynch-esque performance art.

Weirdos have spent many a festive season crafting cardboard feminist mermaids, the abomination that was Phil Collins growing out of Donald Trump’s back and everyone’s favourite, the Dorito fish, which has seen them included as a ‘Top Christmas Show’ to see in numerous publications.

By sticking to the founding almost punk ethos of big, outlandish, DIY comedy, the Weirdos have crafted their place in the live alternative hall of fame and their huge shifting roster of comedians see’s the cream of the alternative circuit collaborating to make something ridiculous.
