News: Jimmy Carr Sweeps To Victory With The Killers At Glastonbury

Jimmy Carr made a guest appearance with The Killers on the Pyramid Stage at the Glastonbury Festival on Saturday night.

Carr appeared onstage with a broom and swept the stage towards the end of the American band's set.

Carr was not the only guest during their performance. Johnny Marr appeared with them for a rendition of The Smiths' This Charming Man and The Pet Shop Boys pitched up for Always On My Mind.

As Carr started trending on Twitter there was speculation on social media about the reason for his cameo. Some joked that maybe it was community service, others wondered if it was a Taskmaster task, while others thought maybe there had been confusion over names when Johnny Marr was booked.

In fact Carr and lead singer Brandon Flowers are old friends. In 2012 Flowers told NME how Carr helped inspire a track on the band’s album.

Flowers said: “I was having dinner with Jimmy Carr, like you do, and he thought the next big breakthrough record that people were going to notice was going to be about the problems of the economy.” Flowers went on to write ‘Deadlines And Commitments’, which has an economic theme.
