News: Entries Open For Amused Moose Comedy Award Final

Entries are now open for the Amused Moose Comedy Award 2019. This competition, in its ninth year, seeks out the most entertaining breakthrough comedy talent yet to become well known and are therefore 'television ready', who perform in their own solo or sketch or multiple comedian/performer show at the Edinburgh Fringe.

The overall winner of the Amused Moose Comedy Award will join previous winners, who have included Tony Law, Marcel Lucont, Celia Pacquola, Jess Robinson, The Kagools, Tania Edwards and Richard Gadd, all of whom are shimmering brightly in Amused Moose Comedy's Hall of Fame  They will receive a shiny Moose trophy, a London showcase, exposure and glory, and traditionally the performer's box office split from their London showcase.

To qualify to enter, shows must be listed in the comedy section of the 2019 Edinburgh Fringe website (www.edfringe.com) for at least 18 dates, and must not have won or been nominated for any other major comedy award, in the UK or internationally. Entries from shows featuring more than one performer are welcome provided the cast does not change. Entries, to include a link to an upload of a preview of the show, close at midnight on Sunday 28th July. 

The Amused Moose industry panel, which includes agents, producers and journalists worldwide, view all entries online to select a large number of Fringe shows to be seen live by another industry panel, who nominate the most exceptional shows and performances as the finalists.

At the Amused Moose Comedy Award Grand Final the finalists perform short excerpts from their shows at the Grassmarket Centre, Edinburgh in the late evening of Wednesday 21 August. Votes at the Final are cast by Fringe-goers, a large comedy industry contingent, as well as a judging panel of comedy professionals who having seen all the finalists shows live, ratify the results (there are usually three awards). The shiny Moose trophies will be presented by Shona McCarthy, Edinburgh Fringe CEO.
