News: Barbara Nice Appears On Britain's Got Talent Semi-Final

Comedy circuit stalwart Mrs Barbara Nice has performed in the semi-final of Britain's Got Talent tonight. Unfortunately she failed to make the final. Mysterious X and daredevil Jonathan Goodwin are the last two acts through to Sunday's final.

She opened her act walking through the audience and talking to the judges – she said she can't look at Simon or her husband Ken gets jealous. She then taught the audience a song and dance routine before finishing with some "stage-diving semi-final style".

Simon Cowell said: "I have a feeling the public are going to love you after that"

Amanda Holden said: "You're a real tonic" and compared her to Peter Kay.

Alesha Dixon added: "I could listen to you all night"

And David Walliams was a big fan: "It was the Barbara Nice Show!!"

Nice is in reality Janice Connolly from Stockport.

It is no surprise that a number of comedians have appeared in this series. In last year's show Lost Voice Guy Lee Ridley was the first comedian to be crowned winner and Robert White and Micky P Kerr were finalists and Noel James made the semi-final. In the previous year Daliso Chaponda made the final. Lorraine Bowen also made a splash on the programme. London-based comic Kojo has already qualified for the final.

The winner picks up a prize of £250,000 and the opportunity to perform at the Royal Variety Performance.

Producers and researchers have been regularly trawling the stand-up circuit for comedy talent in recent years. A number of comedians have been repeatedly approached. Some have turned the programme down, concerned about how their 'storyline' and 'routine' might be edited. Others have decided that the exposure will be good for their careers. It has certainly worked for Lost Voice Guy.

The results will be revealed around 9.50pm.

Mrs Barbara Nice tour dates here.
