News: Inbetweener James Buckley Apologises For Inbetweeners Night

Actor James Buckley has posted an apology following the New Year's Day Inbetweeners reunion that received a barrage of criticism on social media.

Buckley wrote: "Feeling pretty hated right now. Im sorry to anyone who feels let down with last nights show. Im especially upset as it really is the fans that made the inbetweeners a success, it certainly wasnt me. I might do an explanation video on my YT, or might just leave it & move on "

Shortly after Buckley posted his tweet Blake Harrison tweeted: "So, 2019 off to a good start."

The eagerly anticipated programme, Fwends Reunited, marking ten years since the sitcom first went out, faced criticism on a number of fronts. Some viewers were unhappy because they were under the impression it would be a new episode of the series. But a lot of the complaints were directed not towards the cast but at host Jimmy Carr. Some felt his jokes were inapproriate, treating the cast as if they were actually their characters. Others felt that his treatment of women that had appeared on the show was sexist. Numerous people suggested that comedian Greg Davies, who appeared in the series and was in the studio, would have been a better host.

The cast, Simon Bird, Joe Thomas, Buckley and Blake Harrison appeared in pre-recorded clips and in the studio. While the clips were entertaining the quartet seemed increasingly uncomfortable in the studio segments. At the end when they went onstage to collect an award Buckley stood with his back to the camera.
